Meridian Community College, located in Meridian Mississippi, recently hosted a recognition and completion ceremony for 10 Phlebotomy Essentials students who completed the 140-hour course offered through MCC’s Workforce Development department.

In the class students learn the basic of phlebotomy, including

  • anatomy and physiology of the circulatory system
  • venipuncture skin puncture
  • coagulation theory
  • equipment and order of draw
  • infection control and safety

Upon successful completion of this program students are eligible to take a certifying exam from an approved organization for formal certification.
